Pros
- ✓ Excellent real-time data enrichment API
- ✓ Strong company and technographic data
- ✓ Seamless HubSpot integration after acquisition
Cons
- ✕ Pricing is opaque and enterprise-focused
- ✕ Person-level data less comprehensive than competitors
- ✕ Limited standalone prospecting features
Clearbit, now part of HubSpot, is a data enrichment platform that transforms minimal input data into rich company and contact profiles. Given just an email address or domain, Clearbit returns dozens of data points including company size, industry, technology stack, funding history, and social profiles.
The Enrichment API is Clearbit’s core product and its greatest strength. It processes requests in real-time, making it ideal for enriching form submissions, scoring leads on entry, and personalizing website experiences. The API is well-documented and supports both single lookups and bulk processing, with response times typically under 200 milliseconds.
Company data is where Clearbit excels. The platform maintains detailed profiles on millions of companies, including firmographic data, technographic intelligence, and employee count ranges. This information powers use cases from lead scoring to account-based marketing to personalized ad targeting.
The Reveal product identifies anonymous website visitors at the company level, showing which organizations are browsing your site even before they fill out a form. This intent signal helps sales teams prioritize outreach to companies already showing interest.
Since the HubSpot acquisition, Clearbit’s data flows natively into HubSpot CRM without additional integration work. HubSpot users get enrichment capabilities built directly into their workflows. For non-HubSpot users, the API remains available but the standalone dashboard experience has become less of a focus.
Person-level contact data is adequate but not as deep as dedicated contact databases like ZoomInfo or Apollo. You will get job titles, social profiles, and basic demographics, but direct phone numbers and extensive contact histories are not the platform’s strong suit.
Clearbit is best suited for marketing and sales teams that need real-time data enrichment baked into their existing workflows rather than a standalone prospecting tool.
